Ole Miss baseball recently took on Louisville, but the weekend series was more than just about baseball.
It was a homecoming for Louiville Head Coach Dan McDonnell and Assistant Coach Xan Barksdale. McDonnel spent six years as a top assistant under Ole Miss Head Coach Mike Bianco. Barksdale played for Bianco from 2003-2004.
“Its a lot of fun getting caught up with Dan but also playing his team is a big challenge because they are very good,“ said Bianco.
“There are a lot mixed emotion. It’s not easy when you win or when you lose because of the personal relationships. The baseball is great so I try to keep it between the lines,“ said McDonnell.
“Its a lot of fun coming back to Oxord. Obviously being an alumni of here. Its funny walking back in the stadium for the first time. I feel like I’m still used to walking in the third base dugout,“ said Barksdale.
